Getting Started on SlothScape: A True Vanilla Experience

Welcome to SlothScape! We pride ourselves on offering an authentic, 1:1 Old School RuneScape experience. There are no custom shops, no instant-teleport menus, and no overpowered starter packs. Your journey begins exactly as it should: washing up on the shores of Tutorial Island.

Here is a quick guide on how to establish yourself once you make it to the mainland.

1. Surviving Tutorial Island When you log in, you will be greeted by the RuneScape Guide. Simply follow the quest icon on your minimap and complete the tasks given by each instructor. This will teach you the absolute basics of movement, combat, and skilling. Once you finish casting your first spell with the Magic Instructor, you will be teleported directly to Lumbridge.

2. Welcome to Lumbridge You have arrived on the mainland with nothing but your basic tools and a few runes. Your first goal is to build up some early hitpoints and cash.

  • Goblins & Cows: The fields across the bridge in Lumbridge are full of Goblins and Cows. Cows are highly recommended, as you can bury their bones for early Prayer experience and bank their cowhides to sell or craft later.

  • The Stronghold of Security: If you want a massive early-game advantage, head to the Barbarian Village (west of Varrock) and navigate down the Stronghold of Security. Reaching the bottom rewards you with a pair of Fancy/Fighter boots and a quick 10,000 GP to kickstart your bank.

3. Essential Early Quests Because SlothScape is a true vanilla experience, questing is the absolute best way to skip the tedious low-level grinds.

  • Waterfall Quest: The holy grail of early game progression. Completing this quest as a brand-new account will instantly catapult your Attack and Strength levels from 1 all the way to 30.

  • Witch's House: Another excellent early quest that rewards a massive amount of Hitpoints experience, making you much harder to kill while exploring the world.

  • The Knight's Sword: Doing this early on will boost your Smithing straight to level 29.

4. Making Your First GP Without custom RSPS money-making stalls, you will need to rely on the classic economy.

  • Thieving: Pickpocketing Men and Women around Lumbridge is a fast way to get raw coins at level 1.

  • Resource Gathering: Mining Clay, chopping Oak trees, or fishing can yield resources that higher-level players will gladly buy from you to level up their own skills.

5. Utilizing the SlothLite Client While the game itself is purely vanilla, your client is packed with modern quality-of-life tools to help you on your journey.

  • You can seamlessly chat with friends across any active SlothScape world.

  • Use the Settings Wrench on the top right of the client to toggle modern features like stretched-fixed mode, XP drops, and ground item text.

  • The client will automatically check for updates when you launch it, ensuring you always have the smoothest experience possible.
